Raging Feminism - Happy International Women's day bitches
Here’s to the women doing their thing.
The women climbing the corporate ladder,
The women owning small business
Or big business.
The women who travel to dangerous countries
The women who paddle out in the lineup with fifty men, get dropped in on or snaked because their ability is doubted due to gender, but stay out anyway.
The photographers, the sports writers,
The magazine editors
The women who get wasted if they want
And order T-bone steak at restaurants if that’s what they feel like.
The women who play the field if that’s what they want to do
The women who don’t give a shit, if someone might think it unladylike.
The single mums
The women that walk ten kilometres each day carrying 30kg of supplies on their head
The entrepreneurs
The women in the defense force.
The politicians
The academics
And those that have to listen to our loser prime minister ranting like a biggot on TV.
The women that know they’re talented and aren’t afraid to show it.
The women who have been sexually assaulted
Or suppressed.
The women who have been a target of violence purely because they are female, but get up and get on.
The women who are wolf whistled at as they walk down the street, or get their ass grabbed at the bar.
The women who go after what they want, and inspire any one else to do the same.
Also to the men, who have confronted someone for being sexist
Who have seen a surfer, not a girl
A strong woman, not an undesirable object
The men who can see the value of being able to order a salad at a cafe and still feel manly.
The men who understand equality and are fighting for it.
Feminism is not growing your underarm hair and hating on men. Feminism is knowing that you can be the person you want to be, not being afraid to risk your desirability, knowing that people can appreciate it.
I often hear women claim “I’m not a feminist, but…”
Why the hell not?
What kind of women would actually WANT to be marginalized? To not be given equal opportunity because you are the proud owner of a vagina.
What kind of woman WANTS to be paid less?
Its not shameful to believe that you should be treated equal.
You’re not expected to be masculine. You’re expected to be however you please, and it to be perfectly acceptable.
To do what you’re good at and be appreciated for it.
To do whatever you want.
